The Life Sciences Cluster Basel of the Basel Chamber of Commerce shows the economic relevance of the local life sciences industry. It promotes the exchange of views between companies and organizations along the entire value chain as well as policy makers, the administration, and the population. It supports the life sciences companies to remain competitive and sets impulses to further develop the industry’s above-average value creation potential in a targeted manner.

scienceindustries, the Swiss trade association for the chemical, pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, is committed to providing its 250 or so member companies with an internationally outstanding business environment. Around 74,000 people are employed in the chemical, pharmaceutical and life sciences industries in Switzerland. As Switzerland's largest export industry, it makes a significant contribution to Swiss prosperity. In terms of competitiveness, the Swiss chemical, pharmaceutical and life sciences industry ranks second after the USA and is therefore among the absolute world leaders in terms of performance, market position, innovative capability and technological leadership.
vips was founded in 1950 and, with 85 members, is the pharmaceutical association with the most members in Switzerland today. vips has a broad base and its membership structure shows a high level of diversification. This means that both companies selling highly innovative products and generics companies are represented. Numerous members have their production sites in Switzerland. vips sees itself as a hub that connects authorities, politics, media and members. It campaigns for supply security for all patients and for fair medication pricing.
